Georgia Lord was most recently elected to serve her final term as the Mayor of Goodyear in 2017. Her civic service first began in 2005 as a member of the city council. She resigned as Vice Mayor to run for Mayor in 2011 to fill a two-year unexpired term. She was re-elected to serve her second term as Mayor in 2013. Prior to serving on the city council, she was the chair of the Goodyear City Center Technical Advisory Committee, which was responsible for crafting Goodyear’s downtown strategy. Her goals are to attract new business and clean industries, enhance public safety services, and to develop a sustainable downtown for Goodyear.

Mayor Lord represents Goodyear on the Maricopa County Association of Governments (MAG) Regional Council and Transportation Policy Committee. She serves on the Arizona League of Cities and Towns Executive Committee and on WESTMARC Board of Directors and Executive Committee. Mayor Lord previously participated on MAG Economic Development Committee, the Arizona Mayors’ Education Roundtable, the West Valley Arts Council Boards of Directors, Arizona Town Hall alumni and the Arizona Municipal Tax Code Commission. She currently serves on the Luke West Valley Council, and is actively involved with the West Valley Partners and the Luke Forward Campaign, which played a key role in bringing the F-35 Mission to Luke Air Force Base.

Mayor Lord is a member of Greater Phoenix Economic Council Board of Directors and is a past Chair of the GPEC Ambassadors Steering Committee, and previously served of GPEC International Leadership Council. GPEC awarded Mayor Lord the Certified Ambassador Award in recognition of her promotion and advancement of economic development in greater Phoenix. In 2014, AZ Business Magazine also recognized her as one of the top 50 Most Influential Women in Arizona Business.

Mayor Lord has extensive experience in real estate sales from her time working for a national homebuilder and upon receiving her Real Estate certification from Arizona State University. Her real estate experience giver her insight into how to create high quality, attractive communities. She attended Michigan State University and also graduated with fluency in German from the State Department Institute for German Language before joining her husband overseas during his diplomatic tour of duty in the U.S. Air Force.

Through her many community involvements, Mayor Lord remains connected as a past graduate of the Southwest Valley Citizen Academy and previous efforts on the Board of Directors of the Three Rivers Historical Society, the Purple Ribbon Council on Domestic Violence and the New Friends of the Goodyear Branch Library. Franklin Pierce University recently awarded Mayor Lord with a honorary Doctorate of Public Administration for her professional accomplishments and service to Goodyear.

Mayor Lord is married to Ron Lord, USAF Colonel retired, and raised four children. Their family has grown to include five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mayor and her husband have lived in the community since 1997.
